The Morristown Wildcats Football and Cheerleading programs help children and their families enjoy the football experience every time they step on a field.

Our Mission is to develop the premier fundamentals-based youth football program in Morris County, teaching sportsmanship, integrity, academic achievement and football skills/techniques while developing outstanding student athletes.

Our football and cheerleading programs are a resource for coaches and players, helping everyone promote a positive experience for all participants.

With smaller groups, Morristown Wildcats players in both tackle and flag football receive more one-on-one coaching during practices and more play-time on the field during each and every game.

The increased attention and field time allows all of the children to develop stronger athletic skills for those who wish to pursue playing during high school, regardless of whether they attend private school or public school.

2008 Flag Football Game Schedule

Home Games: 9/14, 10/5, 10/19/(Sundays) and 11/1* (*SATURDAY)
Away Games*: 9/20, 9/27, 10/11, and 10/25 (Saturdays)

All Flag Football games are 4 to 5:30pm regardless of the location.

Home Games: Played at Morristown Beard School, conveniently located at 70 Whippany Road in Morristown, NJ. Please park at the library around the corner.

Volunteer Positions

Pre Season:

Fundraising : Assist the Wildcats Fundraising Board member in organizing and executing this year’s raffle. Solicit local business to purchase ads in Booster Book and/or make a donation.
Booster Book: Work with others to create and publish this year’s Booster Book. The book includes team photos/rosters, ads, coach commentaries and game schedule and should be completed for the first game!
Team Parent: Assist Volunteer Coordinator at home games. Confirm your team parents’ assignments for game day. Organize parents to provide orange slices for half time.

Game Day:

50/50 Seller: Sell 50/50 tickets during your child’s game. Announce winner during 4^th quarter.

Concession/Apparel Stand: Work during one game at the snack shack or apparel stand. 3 to 4 people in the snack shack per game and one at the apparel booth. Both stands are by the field so you won’t miss much of the action.
Field Prep/Chains: Arrive with players to game. Set up field markers and chains. 3 volunteers per game are needed to work the chains on the sidelines (Best place to see the action!)
Parking: Arrive with team (1 hour before game) and direct drivers from drop off zone over to Arboretum and/or Library. Finish in time to watch you child’s game!

Scoreboard/Announcer: Control scoreboard during game or be the announcer!
Team Photographer: Take photos of the game and email them to the webmaster.

Registration is now open! In-person registration will be held at the Morris Township Municipal Building at 50 Woodland Avenue from 10am to 12pm on Saturday 3/29 and Saturday 4/12.Practice begins August 15th.

With a growing community interest in football among our youth, Morristown Wildcats Football program fills a need to introduce all levels of football players, both experienced or novice, in a positive learning environment that focuses on skill-development as well as strategic play.

By focusing on one-on-one coaching and increasing play time during games, all of the Wildcats tackle players have the opportunity to improve their athletic skills.

For those children who wish to pursue high school athletics, these opportunities to actually play during each game will help them make the team, regardless of whether they attend private or public school.

Flag Football is geared for younger children. The Morristown Wildcats Flag Football team is divided into multiple divisions to allow all of the children equal playing time on the field. Both community members and parents provide positive role models as the coaches, teaching the players the rules of good sportsmanship as well as the basic rules for football.

Flag football players also get the chance to play their games on professional turf fields, provided by Morristown Beard School for their home games. Players are also rotated on the field, trying different positions throughout the games and practices. Practices and some games are held at Lidgerwood Field in Morristown (off of James Street).

Like their tackle football counterparts, the flag football team also gets their own cheering squad from the younger Wildcats Cheerleading Squad .

These little cheerleaders energize the the parents and help everyone get a little bit rowdy....

Practices Start Augusts 19th
From age 6 to 14, Morristown Wildcat Cheerleaders are learning skills that will help them throughout their lives.

Working in small teams under the guidance of both high school cheerleaders and parent volunteers, these girls work together to learn new cheers and practice basic gymnastics in a fun environment.

Younger cheerleaders practice their cheers and combine it with minimal athletics while our older cheerleaders integrate physical stunts with more complex cheers.

Cheerleading combines flexibility and athletics with social skills and voice command. But cheerleading also requires heart and attitude. A squad can only be as good as its weakest member so it benefits the entire team to work together to develop skills and coach each other to success.

It's a great way for learn the importance of dedication to teamwork and friends.

Cheerleading is more than just "cheering" at games. It requires a positive attitude and energetic behavior. In many ways, cheerleading creates a way to look at life.

We welcome all enthusiastic girls to our cheerleading squads. No prior experience is necessary. Practices are one day a week and games are typically on Sundays which allows our girls time for their school work and other extracurricular activities.

Over 200 children played with the Wildcats in 2007, our flagship year. We anticipate just as many in 2008 due to our committment to focus on one-on-one coaching during practices and games. Also, increased play time during games insures that all of our players have the opportunity to improve their athletic skills.

For those children who wish to pursue high school athletics, these opportunities to receive focused training and actually play during each and every game will help them make the team, regardless of whether they attend private or public school. After all, the high school teams want the players that can play the game...regardless of where they played it.

Tackle Football

All of our players learn the rules of football under the guidance and support of dedicated coaches and enthusiastic volunteers in a positive learning environment with an emphasis on good sportsmanship and team work.

All players receive play time during practice, scrimmages, and games. The amount of playtime will vary depending on skill level, especially at the 6th to 8th grade level as safety is our number one concern. Coaches will will work with the 6th to 8th grade players that require further skill development during practices until they are ready to play in the games.
